Profundezas
Profundezas is the result of a new chapter of self-exploration and growth for Emma’s musical career. After leaving her music dreams dormant for a few years, a move to Mexico during the pandemic brought it all back to life. Emma met her mentors Loli Molina and Hernan Hecht, and a beautiful partnership was formed, paving the way for the creation of this next EP. Each song touches on an aspect of the influences that she holds dear. Mulher Pelegrina mixes classic Brazilian beats with a folk backdrop to pay homage to the forces that guide us. Winter Waters is an English language take on bossa nova, recounting the nostalgia of a love that could have never been. Finally, Profundezas blends Spanish and Portuguese into a coming of age tale where our memories help our souls realize who they are meant to be.
Openhearted
Openhearted” is a female produced single, written and sung by Emma Platais, featuring Canadian artist so.sophie and produced by DJ Flavya. The song succeeds the album "Emma" (2018) and features a music video directed by Julian Krämling and friends Emma Platais, so.sophie and DJ Flavya. Sung in English and Portuguese, the song with touches of R&B and Pop, started as an ode to romantic love and became a symbol of self acceptance. The single unites women from Brazil, the United States and Canada and is released by Serenna Sounds, an independent music label run by Emma Platais and DJ Flavya. Read full press release here.
Doce Mar Remix Album
The Doce Mar Remix Album was born with love in the time of COVID-19. Launched by Emma and Flavia’s music label Serenna Sounds, the album brings together the remixes from eight Brasilian DJs.
EMMA
EMMA, the debut album from Emma Platais, is an expression of her Brazilian-American identity that blends the different Latinx cultures that have touched her life. She writes in Spanish, Portuguese and English while incorporating her many geographic influences such as samba, cumbia and folk.
